Camping Cooking Utensils
Basic kitchen utensils can include a number of things. You can get ones that stir your delicious soups or delicate mixtures. Ones that flip your burgers while grilling or those pancakes you make every morning. There are even some that you can hold your food and flip or turn every which way. Those basic kitchen utensils are the same camping cooking utensils that is suggested for camp cooking.
One of the most useful camping cooking utensils out there is the wooden spoon, you can't go wrong with it honestly. You just stir your soup or chili or even your cake dough. What do you think they used before the now infamous electric mixer? The wooden spoon! They are extremely cheap and last years and years. I have one that I've been using that is older than me and still works from the first day I used it when I was six. And one of the best things about it is that they don't transfer heat! So if you are stirring a really hot mixture with a metal spoon that spoon is going to get hot and stay hot. No problem with the wooden spoon, the most useful if not best camping cooking utensils ever made.
Well wait a minute, what are you going to cook your chili in? I have the perfect set of camping cooking utensils for you, the Coleman Family Cookset is awesome. You have a large pot for your chili, six quarts. Then you have a two and a half quart sauce pan. And you have a 10-inch frying pan for you to use. You can mix and match whichever camping cooking utensils you need to make you a fabulous chili.
So with your wooden spoon you have your food made and you are ready to eat it. What in the world are you going to put that chili in? One of the most unique camping cooking utensils that has recently come onto the market in the past five or so years is the squishy bowl, particularly the one made by Guyot Designs. It is extremely light, under half a pound to be exact. It can be stuffed dang near anywhere and usually it comes with a cup in the package of the same design, just a little smaller. They hold in their heat pretty well and it doesn't transfer to the outside where your hands are holding it, and when there is food in it then the bowl doesn't cave in or get more squishy, it actually gets a little tougher. This is a must have in your camping cooking utensils box at home.
So you have your chili in your squishy bowl but what in the world are you going to eat that guy with? One of the most amazing camping cooking utensils that I personally can't do without is the Light My Fire Spork. And I know, I know, you're thinking that you've used sporks in the past but they really don't hold your chili well. You my friend have never seen one of these in action, one side is the spoon and the other side is the fork and knife. You can't go wrong with this in your camping cooking utensils repertoire.
